    @Stagmom

I think you may have been referring to my site (Silenced by Age of Autism) in your comment, but I can only guess as you remained particularly vague, perhaps to prevent your readers from finding out just how you censor.

The amusing thing is that if you did not practice such censorship of dissenting opinions, my blog would have no reason to exist, and I would promptly pack up shop. But, since you do censor even comments that follow all of your commenting guidelines, then the need remains. You might not allow people a voice here, but I will give them a place.

In like manner, if AoA actually stuck to facts and refrained from distortions and lies, all of those other blogs, like Countering Age of Autism or Age of Ignorance would probably also leave you alone.

You just don't get it, though, which is the really sad part of it all. You and your fellow editors and contributors must maintain, at all costs, your little worldview. Comments that have even the appearance of disagreement must not appear, lest the facade crack a little. To steal a line from "A Few Good Men", you can't handle the truth.

By the bye, I'm still curious what, exactly, I did to be permanently banned from commenting at AoA? My e-mailed inquiry went unanswered.

Thank you so much for providing the email addresses for the Board of Governors of Wayne State University. The following is the message that I sent to them:

Dear Chairman Bernstein, Vice Chair Abbot, and esteemed members of the Board of Governors of Wayne State University,

I am writing in regards to the community or public service achievements of David H. Gorski M.D., Ph.D., FACS, who is an associate professor at Wayne State University School of Medicine

I am not a scientist, but an educator of children under the age of 12. Some of the children I work with are on the autism spectrum. I am also a volunteer in local disaster response and public health, and have been a lay advocate for early-childhood vaccination coverage in communities that have insufficient access to health care.

I do not know Dr. Gorski personally, but I have been reading his online publications on science, pseudoscience, critical thinking, and medicine for over five years. I regard his online writings, especially those at Science-Based Medicine (http://www.sciencebasedmedicine.org/) as a tremendous public service not only to me, a lay reader, but to all Americans, especially in regard to cancer treatments and how the science of cancer treatment is evolving, and in critical thinking about science reporting.

Dr. Gorski is the managing editor of the internet publication Science-Based Medicine; in his biographical page there (http://www.sciencebasedmedicine.org/?page_id=224) he makes clear his connection to Wayne State University; announces any potential conflicts of interest; makes clear that his opinions

are most definitely not intended to represent the opinions or positions of Wayne State University School of Medicine, his department, or the Barbara Ann Karmanos Cancer Institute and should never, ever be construed as such.

I have learned that an extreme anti-vaccination group, Generation Rescue, today published an article by an undergraduate student attacking Dr. Gorski's integrity. In particular, the post alleged that Dr. Gorski has "undisclosed financial ties to the vaccine industry" and this imaginary undisclosed conflict of interest is "fatal".

The online publication is called Age of Autism and the article was titled "David Gorski’s Financial Pharma Ties: What He Didn’t Tell You " In the comments section to that, a person I believe to be Age of Autism's managing editor urged readers to write to you and to Dr. Gorski's department chair, with the goal of "shutting down" Dr. Gorski's public service activities, specifically his online publications.

Instead, I hope you will commend Dr. Gorski for his extracurricular, public service work in educating the public on the public health importance of robust vaccine uptake, the safety of vaccines, the lures of pseudoscience, and opposing fake cancer "cures". He is a credit to Wayne State University's mission to educate the public.

  5. Crosby starts off with:
"His motto is “A statement of fact cannot be insolent,” yet the title of his blog reads “Respectful Insolence.” In other words, even he admits there are no facts on his blog."

My comment, about this time yesterday (11:00 AM EST 6/23/10), was:
"respectful (adj.) full of, characterized by, or showing politeness or deference
insolence (n.) contemptuously rude or impertinent behavior or speech.
    It's an oxymoron. Get it?"

Hey, you guys don't like blockquotes? No tags on this site? I only use tags for clarity... :(

But otherwise, thanks for the site. Awesome idea.

Edit: I corrected myself then remembered I could delete and repost.

Sorry about the blockquotes. It appears that the blogger software doesn't like it in comments. It's kind of annoying for me, too, as I like using blockquotes.

    Thanks for posting.

It's nice to post and to have it actually show up.

  10. I have deleted the posts by bharat and shriram because they consisted of nothing more than links to some site for immigration products (usaimmigrationsupport.com), the validity of which I have not verified. If you post here, please stick to the topic and do not post advertisements. If either of those users (most likely sock puppets) wish to contact me regarding the deletion of their posts, they can do so using the link to the right.

    Thank you.
