After yesterday's post, I thought the blog could use something a bit lighter. With that in mind, I present to you, LEGO Serenity:
Isn't she shiny?
This was a gift I received recently, combining two things I love, LEGO and Firefly. This is a lovely little model created by Ichiban Toys, who have a number of other amazing custom mini-models.
Of course, what I really want is this:

This set began as an idea on LEGO Cuusoo, a site where LEGO fans can submit ideas and, if they get enough votes, LEGO will consider making them an official set. Well, this model got the required 10,000 votes, and then some. However, LEGO shot the idea down because Firefly was not deemed appropriate for their target audience of 6-11 year olds. Sadly, the set is on hold, probably because the designer has gotten too many requests to fill. I've waited this long, I suppose I can wait a bit longer.
Todd W. initially created Harpocrates Speaks to provide a place for people to leave comments that have been censored at the Age of Autism blog. Since then, he has revamped the site to cover a range of topics: censorship, children's health, ethics, medicine, science and skepticism. Todd has studied the regulation of medical products (drugs, devices and biologics) and has volunteered on an institutional review board, providing ethical review of human subjects research.
